Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens is 7.7 hectares of Victorian park sitting between Queen Street East and the boardwalk — and it's the Beaches' cultural anchor. Every major neighbourhood event happens here: the Jazz Festival, the Kite Festival, the Saturday farmers' market, the summer concert series at the bandshell.

On a given weekend morning you'll find teenagers at the splash pad, seniors at the lawn bowling green, families at the playground, and the post-yoga-class crowd queuing at the coffee cart. In the evening the park empties out and becomes something more contemplative — the light through the old oak trees, the distant sounds of the lake.

The bandshell at the south end of the park hosts free concerts every Sunday evening through July and August. Bring a blanket, bring a bottle, bring the kids.
